È sul numero del 28 agosto (io invece sono in ritardo con la segnalazione qui) la terza apparizione della mia rubrica mensile Mondoinrete, su Azione. Questo mese si parla di privacy e di come la rete ci stia imponendo di rivedere anche questo aspetto della nostra vita.

Esce puntuale, per la seconda volta, Mondoinrete, la mia rubrica mensile su Azione. Questo mese l’articolo è dedicato alle donne e alla loro presenza in rete, al modo in cui la usano e la vivono. Ho usato un approccio meno didattico rispetto al pezzo precedente, quindi sono più incerto sul risultato. Sarò felice di leggere qualche feedback.

[English abstract: Mondoinrete is my new column in the weekly magazine Azione. Within Mondoinrete, I'll talk on the impact of internet on everyday life. The first article is devoted to the long tail.]
Appare oggi per la prima volta Mondoinrete, la rubrica mensile che ho l’opportunità di tenere su Azione, il settimanale di Migros Ticino. La rubrica è dedicata “alÂl’impatto di internet sulla vita di tutti i giorni, econoÂmica e sociale”. In questo primo articolo, intitolato La teoria della coda lunga, affronto i cambiamenti che la rete sta portando nel mondo del commercio, rendendo accessibili nicchie di mercato in genere dimenticate. Ringrazio il direttore di Azione per questa nuova sfida.

The new website of Poliform, Italian furniture manufacturer, is online: www.poliform.it.
The project started in December 2005. I was involved as webatelier.net program assistant. We did some analysis and wrote the information concept. After Poliform designed the layout and produced content and images, I supervised two students that did the coding (meanwhile, one of them graduated). We made some proposal for promotion, but I’m not sure on what they will do.

Recently I switched from Bloglines to Google Reader. My Bloglines blogroll is still there, but it’s no more updated. Google Reader does not have the same funtionality. It allows you to share posts, not blogs. So, I put the snippet in my sidebar. You’ll read the posts I read and appreciated and shared.

For some days I get lot of spam in the comments to this blog. Since I have to approve every comment coming from unknown people, I get tons of email (but you don’t see the spam comment). Akismet, usually doing a great job, doesn’t stop them. Why? It seems that author, IP and website advertised are always the same:

This site was down almost the whole day, due to a DDOS attack to Nettica, the company that manage my DNS entry. Now it seems online again.
I’m pretty happy with Windows Live Writer. Did I find a bug? I can’t set date and time different from now, for a post. If I do it, WLW sets date and time at the beginning (1970). I can’t find how to update this software.
Some people think that a blog should be updated (quite) every day. I don’t: I read the blog through a feed aggregator (BlogLines) so I see only new posts. If I add to my feeds a blog that will be updated only once a month, where is the problem? I will see the new post as soon as it will appear, even if I forgot that blog and my wish to read it.
I’d like that BlogLines gives me some statistic on blogs I read (post/month, last post).

I am a proud Pine user. Pine is a program for email and internet newsgroup written by the University of Washington. It is a textual program, i. e. you do not need to use the mouse, only keyboard shortcut. I use it from 10 years (version 3.95; now it’s 4.64) and some years ago I switched from the unix/linux version to PC-Pine, the version for Windows.
Pine uses latest internet standards and understand many email format.
Support is very good: check out comp.mail.pine or ii.com (where you find pine evangelism).
Today Pine scored again: I configured it to use Exchange folders. Now I may access the same folder from my Laptop and from office pc. It’s not a new feature, but it’s the first time I use it.
AdWords Editor (BETA) is now online and everyone can download it. I’m testing it.
