Italian dessert

I like very much an italian dessert called “torta della nonna” (grandma’s cake). You find it almost in every restaurant in Ticino. It’s always the same. I though that probably it would be a frozen industrial cake, but it’s very good.

Yesterday I was in a restaurant with friends (Grotto Figini in Gentilino, one of the last real grotto in Ticino) and I saw the “torta della nonna” with its package. Now I know that it is actually a frozen cake produced by Bindi, an italian company (it’s better to check the UK website, without flash). Bindi was a shop in Milan, opened at the end of war. Now it is an international company with a lot of great product.

The “torta della nonna” (see picture) is done by “layers of shortcrust pastry filled with lemon flavoured patisserie cream & decorated with pine nuts, dusted with icing sugar”.

Lodrino Airshow

On Sunday, September 3., I was in Lodrino, a small village some kilometers before the Gotthard. The Lodrino Airshow 2006 was really wonderful, but in my opinion the best airshow in this area is the Ambri Airshow. Well, was. The Lugano Airshow is good, but an airshow in the mountains is really different.

In Lodrino you had the sun in your eyes for the whole afternoon. Very bad. Ambri is a better place for an airshow.

If you like this kind of shows, have a look at my photo-set in flickr.
