Borders’ traffic

At the end of September, the swiss police closed the border with Italy. They were searching the thieves of several military weapons, stolen some days before in the french part of Switzerland.

This caused a huge traffic jam, blocking for hours everyone. As reported on September, 28. by the Corriere del Ticino, an italian guy sitting is the european parliament was very unhappy and asked explanation (written question E-4316/06 to the Council).

Every time some problem hits the swiss route system, some italian politician says that Switzerland is violating the treaties between Switzerland and EU. In other words, they cry and ask for repayment.

What about the Brogeda border? The border between Italy and Switzerland on the highway (Chiasso – Ponte Chiasso) is a mess. Swiss policemen (usually two) stops only some cars, putting it on the right, out of the queue, to ask ID. Italian policemen (not less than five) stops some car IN THE queue, so the whole queue has to stop.

Results: you’ll have always to wait when you want to pass that border.
